U.S. Marines and sailors with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit load into an MV-22B Osprey aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6), Aug. 8, 2015. The 31st MEU is staging Ospreys in Guam in support of typhoon recovery efforts in Saipan. The aircraft will be on standby in the event their aerial lift capacity is needed to distribute emergency supplies to remote areas. Três aeronaves Boeing MV-22 “Osprey”, do Corpo de Fuzileiros Navais do Estados Unidos (US Marine Corps), participaram da Operação UNITAS Amphibious 2015. De acordo com a Marinha do Brasil, a viagem de translado dessas aeronaves foi a mais longa da história operacional do modelo. Os MV-22 cumpriram um percurso de 11.417 quilômetros.

O MV-22 Osprey é empregado para apoiar tropas em combate desde 2007, sendo atualmente a principal aeronave de apoio à missões de assalto utilizada pela U.S. Marine Corps. Com o dobro da velocidade e alcance cinco vezes maior que o de um helicóptero, o veículo utiliza dois motores basculantes, ambos posicionados nas extremidades das asas fixas, os quais  possibilitam pousos e decolagens verticais.
